The B.R. Ryall YMCA in Glen Ellyn engaged Doyle to execute the comprehensive remodel project, including the construction of a new 10,000 SF Wellness Center, renovation of the main lobby, and the establishment of new administrative offices. Notably, this was the second collaboration between Doyle and the YMCA, following our previous work on a gymnasium and daycare facility in the late 1980s.
A critical aspect of this project was maintaining operations at the YMCA throughout all phases of construction. With a design that called for significant improvements at the main entrance, the careful planning of temporary entrances and project phasing became paramount to ensuring minimal disruption to the facility's daily activities. Additionally, the project faced logistical challenges compounded by the reliance on charitable contributions, which placed added emphasis on the project’s budget. To address this, the Doyle team collaborated closely with the architect and the YMCA to implement value engineering strategies, successfully identifying over $400,000 in savings without delaying the construction timeline.
